What is Stavo?
Stavo is where self-learners grow into musicians. Guided lessons help you understand music, the score studio lets you make it your own, and focused practice tools help you turn difficult phrases into progress you can hear.
Do I need any music knowledge before I start?
No. Stavo starts with the meaning of a staff, clef, note, beat, and rest. New words are explained in plain language and shown visually before you are asked to use them.
Can I really learn music on my own?
Yes. Stavo is built for self-learners. Each lesson explains one idea, shows what it looks and sounds like, lets you make a musical decision, and checks your understanding before you move forward.
Do I need an instrument to begin?
You can begin music theory without buying an instrument. Use the onscreen piano to hear and play notes while you learn. A physical piano, keyboard, or guitar becomes useful when you are ready to practise instrument technique.
Can I try Stavo before paying?
Monthly and yearly Stavo Pro memberships include a seven-day free trial with a payment method. Lifetime access is a one-time purchase with no trial or renewal.
How do I cancel or request a refund?
Open Profile and choose Manage or cancel subscription to manage a trial or recurring membership through Lemon Squeezy. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid the first charge, or before renewal to avoid the next charge. Refund eligibility is explained in the Stavo Refund Policy.
Which instruments and score types are supported?
The editor supports standard music notation for piano, acoustic guitar, electric bass, and upright bass. Guitar and bass scores can also use six-line or four-line TAB, or display notation and TAB together.
Can I write and play a complete score?
Yes. You can place notes and rests, edit pitch and duration, write chords, use key signatures and scale modes, create multiple systems and A4 pages, organize measures, and hear the score through instrument playback.
Can I use my MIDI keyboard?
You can connect a compatible MIDI keyboard to preview notes and enter them into a score. Web MIDI availability depends on your browser and device; a current Chromium-based desktop browser such as Chrome or Edge provides the most reliable experience.
How does the practice loop work?
Set visible start and end handles around the measures you want to repeat, choose a count-in, slow down or increase the playback tempo, and optionally add a metronome click. The score follows the playback position as you practise.
What can I learn in Stavo?
Stavo currently includes structured piano and guitar learning paths. Lessons combine clear explanations, notation examples, an expandable onscreen piano, playing activities, quizzes, XP, and achievement badges.
Are my scores private?
Scores in your account are private to you. Stavo does not provide a public score marketplace or user-to-user sharing. You remain responsible for the music you enter and for respecting any copyright that applies to it.
What is saved to my account?
Your account scores, collections, favorites, course enrollments, and lesson progress are stored in your private cloud workspace so you can return to them after signing in.
Does Stavo work on mobile and tablet?
The library and courses adapt to phones and tablets. Because an A4 score editor needs horizontal space, Stavo asks phone users to rotate to landscape for score editing and presents compact mobile controls. Desktop or tablet remains the most efficient authoring experience.
Can Stavo turn an MP3 into sheet music?
Not yet. Audio-to-score transcription is marked Coming soon while we improve separation, pitch, rhythm, and rest accuracy. We will not market experimental transcription as a finished feature.
